Chaosbreed unleash pure old school death metal on their latest release "Brutal," which appeals to the likings of Entombed, Carnage, and Autopsy. Chaosbreed were founded back in 2003, with all members coming from different bands to deliver pure death metal with their own twist of brutality.
"Brutal" begins with the heavy hitting "Wretched Life," and is followed by the insane driven "Casket Ride." "Faces of Death," instantly brings Slayer's "South of Heaven" to mind. The riff could almost be considered "borrowed" but followed with different lyrics. It is the strongest track on the album. Other tracks like "Rotting Evil," and "Symptoms of the Flesh," showcase a slower, darker sound but are compounded with fierce riffs that keep pounding the listener with pure evil and brutality. The album closes with "An Evil Eye," which displays versatility of guitar, delivered with soft spoken vocals.
Chaosbreed are not reinventing the wheel of death metal but they have "just enough originality to claim their songs as their own," (Justin Donnelly, Blistering.com). For any Entombed fans out there, this is a must have since Chaosbreed are heavily influenced by them and it shows in their music. Prepare to punish your ears with pure brutality from beginning to end.
