Milwaukee’s latest New Blind Nationals have wedged themselves into the scene with their debut release “Bury the Pattern”, released in April of 2004 on Sparkler records. The band originated in 2001 and played their local area while recording an EP, “Used to be a Passenger” before having all their equipment stolen, a major set back for an indie band. While for awhile it looked like the bands demise, they soon reformed with a couple of new members, going on to record another EP in 2002 before going through even further line up changes and yet another EP, “Born on a Beach Blanket”. They soon caught the attention of Sparkler Records and hit the studio to record “Bury The Pattern”.
The band has referred to themselves as a “punk band with rock ethics” and you can hear the heavy rock influence with punk tinge throughout the entire album.
Highlights are the track “Dissociate” with its more melodic and modern rock approach, and the poppy “Cinematheque”.
The CD is certainly worth a spin and has its engaging elements worth or reference. If you want to hear more go to www.newblindnationals.com
