Shadows Fall Artist - Shadows Fall
Album - THE WAR WITHIN
Label - Century Media
The new work from Shadows Fall takes this band one giant leap further up the ladder to pure hard-rock perfection. They broke ground for me at Ozzfest 2003 with the way they used brutally heavy metal and breathtaking melodics- all within the same song! Well take that practice and amplify it by about 100%, and you have THE WAR WITHIN. Embedded deep within these 10 tracks is some of the most incredible music ever to come from neither this band, nor many others on the planet.

There are so many “moments” on this cd, but if I had to mention a few (which I do) I would definitely point out the vocal work on the bridge of What Drives The Weak which features some of the best vocals to come from vocalist Brian Fair since their cover of Pink Floyds Welcome To The Machine.

Also noted is the fact that the guitars are very well managed, and new ground has been broken here as well in terms of wide, vivid sound textures. I do not want to spoil the cd for any SF fans who like to be surprised, so let it suffice to merely say that on September 21st when this cd is released you can be assured that its purchase will definitely fall under the category of “money well spent”. Produced by Zeuss at Planet Z.
