With so many bands emerging on the metal/hardcore scene over the past few years, it takes a unique sound to separate itself from the rest. New Jersey’s God Forbid, puts their name on the map and on top with their latest offering, “Gone Forever.” God Forbid
Currently, they are on Ozzfest 2004 and have been tearing it up day in and day out. I recently saw them in St. Helens, Oregon, at "Mayhem at the Meadows," and they definitely ripped it up live. According too many of the bands playing on Ozzfest, God Forbid have been one of the strongest bands on the tour so far. I was able to sit down briefly with Byron Davis, lead singer, and Corey Pierce, the drummer.

When I asked them about how the reception of the bands and the tour has been so far, "It has been amazing and everyone has made us feel at home on this tour…We have been on the road non-stop in support of our new record and we will continue to tour after Ozzfest." With musical influences "ranging from Ozzy and Slayer to Megadeth and The Haunted all shine through on this new stunning offering," (www.godforbid.com) which makes God Forbid one of the elite metal acts on the scene. In describing the writing process, Corey explained,
God Forbid “I am the first one to record in the studio…There is a lot of pressure for me to get in there and pound it out.” On the other hand, Byron explained, “We usually get in an argument before I lay down the vocals, so I can bring the raw energy and anger to the record when recording.”

When I asked them what it is like to be away from family or if they have girlfriends/wives when they are on tour they both laughed. According to Corey and Byron, “We both had girlfriends for a few years but we were spending too much time and money on giving them what they wanted and not making time for ourselves, and most importantly, the music.” God Forbid
But they are used to being on the road and their families are very supportive. They went on to explain about how they are all good friends and have the same vision as far as what they want to do in the present and the future.

God Forbid     I suggest you check out God Forbid when they come through your area and find out why they are raising the bar of the metal/hardcore scene.
