Otep
Otep

Describing Otep isn’t something easily done. The name itself is an anagram of the word poet, but the music is pure, raw, primal, violent, and poetic, nothing short of throat wrenching symphonic rage. Read full feature here.

KOßN GET SERIOUSLY "TWISTED" - Robin @ 11:12 am PST

IN NEW MINI-MOVIE

For a song that's called "Twisted Transistor," KOßN knew they had to come up with a visualization that was mind-blowing, epic and unforgettable--something that would stretch the boundaries of music videos in the same way that the band have pioneered a unique brand of heavy music. For example, KOßN pondered: should they even appear in the video? Should the video be restricted by the time length of the song? And was there any reason not to alternate between performance footage and concept scenes without music?

Creatively teaming with director Dave Meyers, KOßN made good on their promise to shake up the music video format with the seven-and-a-half-minute visual extravaganza for "Twisted Transistor," the first single from KOßN's forthcoming SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE album. Due out December 6 via a global partnership with EMI/Virgin Records, the album was produced by JONATHAN DAVIS along with The Matrix and Atticus Ross.

In the end, KOßN decided to call upon their friends to become, well, the members of KOßN for this mini-movie. Imagine this: hip-hop titans Lil Jon as JONATHAN DAVIS, Snoop Dogg as JAMES "MUNKY" SHAFFER, Xzibit as FIELDY and David Banner as DAVID SILVERIA. And they did their homework, studying the stage moves and idiosyncrasies of the four members of KOßN to create spot-on portrayals that give fans an inside look at the four distinct personalities that make up the band.

In an interview with MTV-which will air a "Makes A Video" special November 7 on MTV2--KOßN singer Jonathan Davis said he was impressed by the portrayals: "They're doing a really good job. Such a good job, in fact, that it takes a few seconds before realizing, 'Hey, that's Lil Jon singing, not Jonathan Davis.' 'And that's Snoop Dogg in the dreads and bodysuit, not Munky.' 'And that's Xzibit wearing Fieldy's signature headband and David Banner banging on David Silveria's drums.' "

For some like Snoop Dogg, the transformation was easy since he's spent time touring with KORN. For others like Xzibit, there was some work involved. But as FIELDY told MTV News, it was all worth the efforts, "He's got the Dickies and the chain on, it's hilarious. Just watching Xzibit holding my bass straight up and down and jumping around, he's really into character."

Tune in to see "Twisted Transistor" playing on a television set near you.

GOD FORBID Prepares For Headlining U.S. Shows; - Robin @ 8:57 am PST

New Video Makes Its MTV2 and Fuse Debut

GOD FORBID just wrapped up a highly-successful run on the Decibel magazine sponsored Fury of The Fall tour with Meshuggah, The Haunted and Mnemic, which will lead them into a four date headlining stint with Agents of Man on the east coast. The group will immediately head over to Europe for a massive trek alongside The Haunted and God Dethroned taking them to the end of the year. Their new video for the track, "The End of The World," shot by acclaimed director Dave Brodsky (All That Remains, Fight Paris, The Red Chord) will make its Headbangers Ball debut this Saturday, Nov. 5th at 10PM EST/7PM PST. It will also make its Metal Asylum debut on Wednesday, Nov. 9th at 8PM EST.

The group’s critically acclaimed new album, IV: Constitution of Treason, entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #119 in its first week of release and it's the first time the group has ever appeared in the Top 200 charts. Produced by Jason Suecof (Trivium) and Eric Rachel (Atreyu, Dillinger Escape Plan), the album -- a socially and politically charged vision of a post-apocalyptic world -- further displays the incredible creativity and talent of one of the most highly-respected bands in metal today.

“IV: Constitution of Treason is an extraordinary metal record.”

Bril US Debut "Airless Alarm" In Stores February 14th - Robin @ 8:57 am PST
Bril US Debut "Airless Alarm" In Stores February 14th

"Far Away" Video Launches Online, Single Available For Free Download in November

Los Angeles, CA- Orange County indie rock band, Bril will release their debut album, Airless Alarm on February 14th. The eleven tracks were mixed by studio veteran Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam) and produced by the band alongside Juno Award winner, Justin Gray. The first single, “Far Away” is currently #2 at Alternative specialty and college radio. To celebrate the early success of the track, Kirtland Records will be giving away free downloads of the song for the entire month of November via: www.brilband.com. The video for the song was directed by Pamela Littky and is featured on Myspace.com. It has been added to Budweiser.com where Bril has been chosen as the Artist of the Month.

The band will be touring throughout the west coast, with upcoming shows in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix and will be heading through Las Vegas, Northern California, and up to Seattle. In September they performed an exceptional showcase during the annual CMJ Festival in New York, followed by a packed performance at the Dallas New Music Festival and shows throughout Texas, including a sold out show in Austin with stellastarr*.

The four members of Bril are all prolific in many aspects of the music world. They have their own recording studio, where many of the tracks from Airless Alarm were written and partially recorded between trips to Toronto for their scheduled studio sessions. Singer/guitarist, Dave Starr spends time outside of Bril engineering albums for local artists and most recently was Assistant Engineer on the latest H.I.M. cd, "Dark Light". Brothers Kris (guitarist) and Kelly (drums) originally started out on opposite instruments which now allows for an extended element of versatility within the group.

"Airless Alarm is filled with glossy gems similar to those by Ours and Coldplay. Frontman Dave Starr writes melodic songs with plenty of substance... shimmering guitars and the soft/loud song structure that has helped bands like Coldplay take it to the next level... sweeping guitars and falsetto vocals build to a beautifully noise crescendo that shows off their musical chops." -Tripwire

10 Years - Robin @ 8:56 am PST
10 Years on tour, on the radio and in your head!!!

“Autumn Indicates the Death of Beauty As We know” The Autumn Effect

New York, NY- Republic/ Universal Records recording artists, 10 Years, scores a major coup when their first single, “Wasteland” became the number 1 Most Added song at Active Rock Radio. The band released their debut album, titled The Autumn Effect, on August 16th and now hit the road with Breaking Benjamin; then, joins Mudvayne to continue their mission to bring good music to the people.

Based in Knoxville, TN, 10 Years is an alternative hard rock band with an incomparable sound that is destined to create an island of its own. Formed three years ago, 10 Years created a strong underground following with their independent release Killing All That Holds You. In 2005, 10 Years signed with Republic/Universal Records, entered the studio with producer Josh Abraham (Staind, Velvet Revolver) and recorded their debut album The Autumn Effect. The Autumn Effect has arrived just in time to counteract the cynicism and to take rock music to its next logical destination. "Humanity is slowly shutting down," says the band's frontman Jesse Hasek, who points to the current rock scene as a prime example of this lack of community. "Music is supposed to be about intensity and feeling, but there's no thinking behind the music that's out there today. We want people to think, to feel emotions again. We're always plugged in, or connected to something, part of the machine, but the more we plug in, the less human we become."

Radio embraces 10 Years tunes which opens doors allowing this band to deliver a world of music; equally technical and emotional, to the masses. Both lyrically and musically, The Autumn Effect promises to be this year’s breakout rock album, with their new, ‘number one’ Active Rock single “Wasteland” leading the way.

“Less is more,” the band says of their sound, and nowhere is that more apparent than “Wasteland.” Swaggering with a warm embrace and reverberating girth, the track is epic in its simplicity, stripped down to a cerebral minimum and resonating through the body and echoing through the brain. The title track swirls an intrepid sounds cape with an influx of modern aggression, an emotional juggernaut that builds from wallowing calms, to harrowing crashes. Sledgehammer riffs propel “Empires,” while the sun-drenched “Prey” builds into a heavy metal gape, the perfect combination of breezy pacing and humid undertones. This must hear disc and must see band promises to be refreshing in a time where most new music seems stale.

Valencia - Robin @ 8:56 am PST
Valencia Happy With the First Week’s Success

Valencia may not have sold 100,000 records or topped the charts in with their debut album This Could Be A Possibility but that hasn’t stopped their label, I Surrender Records, from being pleased with the first week’s success of the record. After some dealing with some distribution hang ups label head Rob Hitt says, “I’m happy with the first week numbers, especially because all those numbers are from online sales.” The week prior to its release This Could Be A Possibility was #1 on Smartpunk.com and Downloadpunk.com and #2 on Interpunk.com – all a result of the online buzz about the release.

Hitt has also been pleasantly surprised at the number of orders for the record from overseas, primarily Europe and Japan considering that band has never been there. This should be a sign of more good things to come for Valencia.

Valencia will be on the road throughout the rest of 2005 and are planning on a full scale US tour in early 2006. Check out the current tour dates below:

Strapping Young Lad - Robin @ 8:55 am PST
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Embark On The Transgression Tour;
New Video Completed

Canadian extremists STRAPPING YOUNG LAD recently embarked on the much-anticipated Decibel magazine sponsored Transgression Tour alongside genre titans Fear Factory, Soilwork and Darkane, which kicked off on Oct. 28th and runs through Dec. 5th. The group completed a highly successful run on the inaugural Sounds of The Underground tour this past summer in support of their genre-defying breakthrough new album, Alien, which critics hail as their best offering yet. Their overly intense live performances captivated the uninitiated crowds who were immediately drawn to the band’s perfect blend of melodic industrial thrash insanity. The group just completed a new video for the track “Zen” with director Marcus Rogers (also filmed the SYL DVD). Look for the clip to make its Metal Asylum debut late this month.

Devin Townsend (vocals, guitars) checks in with the following report: “Hey all, Devin here. We are now on tour with Fear Factory, Darkane and It Dies Today (soon to be Soilwork). It's a good tour and we're playing venues that we're familiar with, so it's pretty low stress. Metal Edge made it out like we're cool, naming Alien as “One Of The Best Metal Albums of 2005.” What a foreign feeling! Oh well, we’ll savor it while it's here, 'cause it all goes away at some point. I've been entertaining a shitload of production offers and tours for next year. I want SYL to get some cool stuff done, and I really want to show people the Devin Townsend Band project. I think you'd like it. Rock and roll, metal brethren.”

Reignition Recordings - Robin @ 8:54 am PST
Worldwide CD release. Reignition Recordings brings together the hottest bands in rock for a tribute to one of the most influential bands ever: The Smashing Pumpkins!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Title: The Killer In You: A Tribute To Smashing Pumpkins

Label: Reignition Recordings (www.reignition.com)

Release dates: November 1st, 2005: iTunes

November 15th, 2005: All other digital Music sites: MSN Music, Downloadpunk, Karma Download, Liquid Digital Media, Yahoo, Musicnet, Napster, Starbucks, eMusic, Downloadpunk, and more!

January 31st, 2006: Worldwide CD release.

Reignition Recordings brings together the hottest bands in rock for a tribute to one of the most influential bands ever: The Smashing Pumpkins!

It’s been over 17 years since The Smashing Pumpkins formed in Chicago; with their intention of bringing together the group’s love of progressive, goth, psychedelic, glam, and arena rock into a potent mixture that had designs on assaulting the pop charts. In those magical moments of music in the late 80’s and 90’s; the members of this four piece phenomenon didn’t even look like the popular bands coming from the hair-rock mecca of Los Angeles. Even their name sounds as subversive as it does antagonistic—hardly suggested the machismo of contemporaries like Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, or Warrant. Hell, the Pumpkins had a female bassist, a guitarist who had never even picked up a guitar before he joined the band, a drummer with talent bordering on preternatural (who also had brushes with substance abuse), and a singer/lead guitarist who gave the term “control freak” new meaning. Yet, with the release of the band’s first record, Gish, and later their breakthrough album, Siamese Dream, the gave the world such hits as” Today,” “Disarm,” and “Cherub Rock,” among others.

Even though The Smashing Pumpkins’ recorded output was slim, the band left an indelible mark on genres as diverse as punk rock, mainstream pop rock, and the burgeoning emo/screamo scene currently ravaging its way across the world.

Reignition Recordings, a label out of New York City, spawned from the late Law of Inertia Records (long association with the magazine), brings the world their second tribute CD, but arguably their best: The Killer In You: A Tribute To Smashing Pumpkins.

With some of the most exciting cross-genre bands in the country covering Pumpkins songs, this record is white hot. Featuring a diverse cast, like the California-by-way-of-Miami hardcore band Poison The Well (Atlantic), whose version of “Soma” will lull you to sleep before rising you up to the stars; Armor For Sleep (Equal Vision), who turn out a spot-on interpretation on “Today” that seems to bridge the gap between the current state of teen-oriented rock and the Pumpkins themselves; A Static Lullaby (Columbia), a band that gives us an updated take on “Everlasting Gaze” that will peel paint from chrome; and Hopesfall (Trustkill) whose recording of “Eye” is haunting, groovy, and powerful all at once. Rounding out the cast is Eighteen Visions (Epic), Murder By Death (Eyeball), A Thorn For Every Heart (Interscope/Kickball), Roses Are Red (Trustkill), Emanuel (Vagrant), Vaux (Lava/Atlantic), and 32 Leaves (Double Blind Music).

On the heels of Reignition (then known as Law of Inertia Records) Recordings’ highly successful Bring You To You Knees: A Tribute To Guns N’ Roses, which set the benchmark for tribute compilations with covers by Every Time I Die, Bleeding Through, Death By Stereo, God Forbid, Most Precious Blood, and more, The Killer In You: A Tribute To Smashing Pumpkins is an honorable mark of respect. The Smashing Pumpkins have influenced almost every rock band in the nation today—from super groups to nu metal powerhouses, aggressive music, to weepy cardigan-wearing emo kids—so a tribute to them is the next logical step before the real band gets reformed.

Every band on this record would be happy to discuss their collaboration and infatuation with rock icons The Smashing Pumpkins. Plus, Reignition Recordings chief, Ross Siegel, would be happy to talk to you about his love of object of this tribute, his labels releases (Hot Rod Circuit, Drowningman, Ultimate Fakebook, Marathon, The AKAs, The Beautiful Mistake, Zolof The Rock & Roll Destroyer, The Reunion Show, and more), or the third edition of Reignition’s tributes, Black On Black: A Tribute To Black Flag, out in early 2006.

Bam Margera's Viva La Bands Tour Presented By Saturn - Robin @ 8:53 am PST

Launches November 19th in Atlantic City;

4-City Trek To Feature HIM, Finch, Skindred and Fireball Ministry Plus Appearances By Bam and The Viva La Bam Cast

Bam Margera, one of the world’s leading pop culture icons and the star of MTV’s "Viva La Bam" as well as a popular "Jackass" alumni, has teamed up with Saturn, the innovative automaker, for the inaugural launch of Viva La Bands. The explosive 4-city rock extravaganza features some of Bam’s favorite bands: HIM, and Fireball Ministry, as well as Finch and Skindred, and will include appearances by the "Viva La Bam" cast. In between sets, ticket holders will enjoy never-before-seen video footage shot by Bam and his "Viva La Bam" cohorts.

What started as a successful record/DVD project featuring 21 artists that Bam wanted the world to know about (including HIM, The 69 Eyes, Turbonegro, Clutch, CKY, and Kill Hannah) is now a blistering tour that Margera, 456 Enterprises and Saturn have created to expose music they view as "must hear" rock & roll for rock fans of all ages.

The tour, featuring artists handpicked by the MTV skateboarding personality, includes headliner HIM -- whose worldwide chart-topping albums and sold-out tours has paved the way for their proper American debut with Dark Light, topping the Billboard charts at #18 after just one week.

Cincinnati’s Fireball Ministry has toured with the likes of Anthrax, Motorhead and Andrew W.K., in addition to hometown gigs with Danzig, Slayer, Mastodon, Killswitch Engage, The Datsuns, and Lamb of God. Heralded by some as the future of rock n’ roll, the quartet’s third full-length release Their Rock Is Not Our Rock is available now.

A fan of loud, aggressive rock, especially of the Scandinavian variety, Bam’s creative vision behind Viva La Bands will spotlight harder edge new music, reinvigorating the U.S. rock scene in the process.

The four-city Viva La Bands trek launches November 19th in Atlantic City and ends with a two-night stint in Bam's hometown of Philadelphia on November 23 and 24. The tour will be filmed to highlight behind-the-scenes activities from the

tour and will be shot in true "Viva La Bam" style.

For fans outside of the northeast US, a national Viva La Bands Tour is already in the works for Spring/Summer 2006.

Viva La Bands tour dates are as follows:

November 19 @ House of Blues, Atlantic City, NJ

November 21 @ Norva, Norfolk, VA

November 22 @ 9:30 Club, Washington DC

November 23 @ Electric Factory, Philly PA

November 24 @ Electric Factory, Philly, PA

Bayside statement from Anthony Raneri - Robin @ 8:52 am PST
Anthony Raneri of Bayside talks about the events of October 31st, and their plans for the future:

The worst day of my life is over. It lasted 72 hours, but it's over. I know now that everyday for the rest of my life will be a piece of cake to wake up to, I'm just glad that I get to wake up to them. On Halloween I lost my best friend, big brother, mentor and band mate. I find a lot of comfort in knowing that I had a best friend, big brother, mentor and band mate in the first place, when so many people will never know what it is like to have someone as magical as Beatz in their lives. I'm so lucky for that and so lucky that I survived this thing to tell everyone about him. Anyone that knew Beatz fell in love with him instantly. Whether you were his brother, his wife, his friend or you met him for five minutes. This letter, this week and the rest of my life is not going to be a mourning of a lost life, but a celebration of a wonderful one. He will live forever in all of our hearts and in the music he created so passionately.

On behalf of Bayside, everyone in the Bayside/Victory camp and the Holohan clan, I thank you all so much for your support through all of this. I have to thank the members of Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein and Aiden, all of their crews, everyone at Victory, our manager Nate Albert and our families and friends for everything they have done since the second this happened, to get us past the last few days. Our guitar tech Nicky Raneri, tour manager Scott Robinson, guitar player Jack O'Shea and I are all home safe. Nick is going into surgery in a couple of hours and will make a full recovery; our drum tech Dan Marino is out of surgery and we hope to get him home by the end of the week. Every one of the fans, the press and any other company or person that has gotten in touch with us has just been amazing and it's all that support that got us through this.

On November 16th, Jack and I will be flying out to St Petersburg, FL to join up with the Never Sleep Again Tour. We will be playing an acoustic set that night and every night through the end of the tour on December 11th. We loved this tour. Beatz loved this tour and this is something that we need to do for ourselves, for our band and for John Beatz, who would kick my ass if I didn't finish up what he gave his life for. After that, we will be taking the holidays off, as planned, and then getting back on the road again as a band in 2006. Aside from the next two weeks, we can not let this situation slow our band down or cancel one more show or tour. All any of us ever wanted to do was play music and make this band into something that people would know and love. That hasn't changed and we can't let it. Beatz wouldn't have it any other way.

It will take me a long time to get the horrible images from that night out of my head and it will take some time for my friends Nick and Dan to get their asses out of bed, but I will, and they will and life will move on with only the happier memories of my best friend.

Thank you all for your support. The whole Bayside camp and the Holohan family are living on it right now. Please look into the John Holohan Memorial Fund. It's not about money; it's the thought that counts. For all of us and his family to know that he made a huge impact on the world is all we have right now.

Thank You,

Anthony Raneri

& Bayside

Bayside Statement - Robin @ 8:51 am PST
A statement from Nick Ghanbarian, bassist in Bayside:

I'm laying here in the hospital, awaiting my surgery tomorrow. To clear up any questions, I broke my back ( L4 vertebrae ). I'm very lucky to not be paralyzed. I was thrown through the window of our rolling van, after hitting a patch of ice. I have a full torso cast on, keeping my back straight. I just started eating again so now I can take some percoset which helps with my intense back pain. All in all, Ill be ok and the minute I can have a bass in my hand and be playing in front of people again I will. It’s all I know how to do and the only thing that makes me happy.

Once hearing about all of the support from friends, bands and fans, my spirits where immediately uplifted. All we have in this world are each other, and in times of tragedy, you find out who is by your side until the end and who is bullshit. Thankfully our music community surrounds us by mostly heartfelt people who are going out of their way to help us in our time of need and to help us keep our dream alive.

John Beatz was someone I looked up to, yet I walked beside him as a contemporary. I learned from him as he learned from me. We started playing in bayside 14 months ago and have both realized that our whole lives had been lived to get us to this point, so we spent the time working our asses off and making sure that that this band was going to succeed in what we wanted: having people hear our music.

With his passing, we realize he paid the ultimate price as all of us would have or else we wouldn't have been beside him. We live for rock and roll and when you believe in something enough, sometimes you die for it.

What I want everyone out there to realize is the sacrifice every member of every touring band makes. Safety, money, health etc. All of these things are a distant second to our music. People get vans, trailers, equipment and other personal items stolen, we play in unsafe neighborhoods, we travel far distances in sometimes unsafe vehicles and unsafe weather. My point in all of this is that we are a community, not a business. Support and understanding with an open mind are what's most important in our lives. Not record sales. Whether or not you like a band you must realize that bands are giving their all for what they love, including their lives. Showing your faces at shows and talking to us and letting us know you appreciate the music and the hard work is infinitely more important than the business side of things.

I'm happy to have my life, I'm happy to have known John and I'm happy to still have a band. Please give your time and respects to John’s family and wife. All he ever did was speak of her, and every ounce of energy he put into his life was for her. Hopefully we can all have love like that in our lifetime.

See you all soon

Nick

The Shirts For A Cure Project - Robin @ 8:50 am PST
The Shirts For A Cure Project Soars—Adding 25 New Bands And Atticus Clothing To Its Ever Growing Roster

Baltimore, Maryland – November 1, 2005 – After a successful summer on the Vans Warped Tour, the Shirts for a Cure Project (SFAC) is proud to announce the addition of 25 new bands, now giving the project a grand total of 76 bands who have teamed up to join in the fight against breast cancer. Against Me!, Anti-Flag, Armor For Sleep, Hawthorne Heights, Lifetime and The Starting Line are just a few of the new additions joining the roster of bands who have volunteered their time and energy to this great cause.

“I am very excited to see so many bands getting involved with Shirts for a Cure. It’s great to see the punk community really rally around what we are trying to accomplish and help keep the original spirit of punk alive,” says SSE chairman Mark Beemer. “With the help of this community, in just over a year we have been able to raise more money then we could have ever imagined and inject a significant portion of these funds into clinics that will help underprivileged women directly.”

This outpour of new bands has even attracted clothing companies involvement. Atticus Clothing has partnered with SFAC to help fight this killer disease and to bring a wider audience to the project. The partnership, a first for Atticus, has produced a unique shirt that will be available exclusively online at www.shirtsforacure.com.

The Shirts for a Cure Project features limited edition t-shirts from various bands to aide The Syrentha Savio Endowment (SSE) in its efforts to provide funding for chemotherapy and other medication for underprivileged women who cannot afford the growing expense of fighting breast cancer. Since it’s inception in 2002, SSE has already raised more then $250,000 and awarded grants totaling more then $100,000 to organizations in Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

Orange Sky - Robin @ 8:50 am PST
ORANGE SKY SET TO JOIN YNGWIE MALMSTEEN TOUR TO PROMOTE ITS
GRANITE RECORDS DEBUT CD 'UPSTAIRS' AND DVD 'LIVE IN TRINIDAD'

Trinidad-based rock band Orange Sky has just been named the opening act for the upcoming fall 2005 U.S. tour by guitar wizard Yngwie Malmsteen.

Orange Sky will be promoting its Granite Records debut CD 'Upstairs' and DVD 'Live In Trinidad' on the 17-date run of shows from October 31 to December 7.

Band members include lead vocalist/lead guitarist/songwriter Nigel Rojas, bass guitarist/vocalist Nicholas Rojas, rhythm guitarist Adam Murray, keyboardist/vocalist Richard Hall and drummer/vocalist Obasi Springer. Nigel and Nicholas are brothers.

"We feel really honored to be touring with Yngwie Malmsteen," Nigel Rojas says. "When we were growing up, his posters were on our walls. As young guitar players, Nicholas and I especially loved him. He's a guitar god."

Deeply influenced by a broad range of genres including everything from heavy metal and hard rock to pop to reggae, Orange Sky's music is excitingly original and richly melodic. The exotic Caribbean textures that occur naturally in the versatile band's songs guarantee listeners a sonic experience like no other.

From a musical standpoint, Orange Sky makes a perfect touring partner for an eclectic range of artists. In Trinidad, Orange Sky has opened for the likes of Skid Row, Six Feet Under, Hatebreed and Ludacris.

"We toured the West Coast recently with Adema, and it was our first time out of Trinidad doing any type of shows. We also opened for Buckcherry in Los Angeles," Nigel says. "That was off the hook as well. Los Angeles is a pretty historic place, rock 'n' roll wise. We got to walk around the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Boulevard -- all the places we grew up reading about. We love driving from city to city and seeing America. It's a beautiful country. It's been amazing."

Orange Sky is hugely popular at home in Trinidad and Tobago and throughout the Caribbean. In fact, Trinidad and Tobago's Ministry of Tourism has officially named the band as International Ambassadors.

"The positive reaction from American fans so far has been overwhelming. We don't sound like the average rock band. We have our metal moments, and a lot of Caribbean elements. On tour, we can play a variety of things," says Nigel.

"We're so happy to be out on the road in America making new friends and fans every night. We've got a lot of love in our hearts, and we're giving it all that we've got."

Orange Sky's new official tour sponsor is Trinidad-based Angostura Rum, which is available in 170 countries around the world.

DAYLIGHT DIES SIGNS TO CANDLELIGHT RECORDS - Robin @ 8:49 am PST

Philadelphia: Candlelight Records announces the worldwide signing of Raleigh, North Carolina-based Daylight Dies. The band's label debut, Dismantling Devotion, is currently being completed at The Cutting Room in Solna, Sweden and is expected for release in early 2006.

Formed in 1996, Terrorizer Magazine called Daylight Dies 2003 debut "memorable and engaging." Outburn Magazine proclaimed, "pristine doom metal." And Digital Metal added, "a combination of dark melody and deathly aggression." With Dismantling Devotion, the band look to further their already growing profile. Drummer Jesse Haff says "it is certainly the most mature material we've written to date. For us it is a strong progression that really shows off our emotionally dark and desperate music; a diverse mix of melancholic, melodic and exceedingly heavy songs."

Buffalo, NY - Two very important non-for-profit organizations, Music is Art Foundation and Summit Educational Resources, have announced a partnership to raise awareness and bring educational and therapeutic services to children with learning and/or behavioral challenges through music. One of the goals of this partnership is to raise funds to support research on Autism and the effect that music has on children with this lifelong neurological disorder. With more than 25 years of service to children with disabilities and their families, Summit Educational Resources has grown to become the largest private provider of academic and therapeutic services to children with autism and related behavioral challenges in Western New York. LAMB OF GOD Bring More Audio Brutality To The Masses In 2005! - Robin @ 12:34 pm PST

Make no mistake about it, LAMB OF GOD are the current supreme rulers of American Heavy Metal; and on December 13th LAMB OF GOD are set to release “Killadelphia” (audio). The disc contains the live concert audio from their Killadelphia DVD (2005, Epic). With "Killadelphia" DVD sales reaching Gold status after just nine weeks, Epic Records now releases; LAMB OF GOD “Killadelphia” (audio) including close to 10 minutes of never before seen bonus footage, from the concert previously unreleased plus additional audio; this content will be available via Connected technology; where the CD acts a key to unlock the visual content at a secure website. “Killadelphia” (audio) is available in two formats with brand new packaging unique to each format; as a solo CD, or combined with the original DVD in DVD packaging, so, Killadelphia” will be available in every configuration possible to keep fans from double spending. All formats will be stocked in CD and DVD sections at retail outlets.

LAMB OF GOD's “Killadelphia” (audio) highlights every facet of the bands unforgiving live performance recorded from two unforgettable Sold-Out concerts at Philadelphia’s legendary Trocadero. This blistering live documentation features lead singer Randy Blythe’s storming vocals, the buzzsaw guitar slaughter of both Willie Adler and Mark Morton along with the powerhouse rhythm section of Chris Adler (drums) with John Campbell (bass). “Killadelphia” (audio) boasts live versions of tracks from the entire LAMB OF GOD and BTP catalog, including: Laid To Rest, Hourglass, As The Palaces Burn, Now You’ve Got Something To Die For, 11th Hour, Terror & Hubris, Ruin, Omerta, Pariah, The Faded Line, Bloodletting, The Subtle Art Of Murder & Persuasion, Vigil, What I’ve Become, and the utterly classic Black Label; which inspires crowds worldwide to part seas for the infamous ‘wall of death’.

"This period of our career, captured in this DVD/CD, has become something no one ever expected. It not only gave us something special to remember forever, but it also helped show how a band that believes in themselves and their music can help make a dent in the industry that thrives on image. No one expected us to be able to pull this off, and the best part is that all we did was be ourselves. We get questions all the time about extra footage or a audio CD from the concert and we liked the idea, but we wanted to make sure that our friends and fans weren't gouged having to repurchase the same thing. Extras or not, we're all music fans too and we hate when bands or labels do that to us. We came up with the idea of splitting it up as much as possible so if you have the DVD, you can get the CD separate, and if you don't have it, you can now pick them up separately or together. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have - so on December 13th get yourself a cold one and turn it up...way up! Thanks and Stay Metal!"

Chris Adler

“If you thought Metallica’s Some Kind Of Monster was candid, wait until your metal-loving mitts on Killadelphia.”-Long Island Press.

“A must-own for any LoG fan, this DVD features the blistering highlights of two fall 2004 performances at Philadelphia’s Trocadero, as well as farts and all.” -Revolver, National

“Killadelphia gives Lamb Of God fans an exclusive look of the band’s uncut behind the scenes reality.” -Outburn, National

“Morton and Willie Adler crank out a succession of irate riffs, which have grown more intricate with every album. Drummer Chris Adler (Willie’s older brother) and ursine bassist John Campbell stomp and pirouette around restless rhythms with heroic skill and vigor. Yet Blythe’s loose cannon rage balances their prodigious playing with the sort of rock ‘n’ roll danger the likes of Slipknot or Mudvayne can’t summon, even with spooky outfits or extra percussionists.” -More Sugar, National

“In the world of extreme metal, Lamb Of God is seen as something of a savior. Summarily crushed any fears in metaldom the “the big time” would compromise the band’s mutilating rhythms, surgical guitars and combative vocals.”-Dallas Morning News

“Lamb Of God exudes metal – long hair, a gregarious nature, and insane solos – and puts on a superb live show in detail. One of the best parts of the bands performance is the extravagance that is Chris Adler’s drumming.”-New Times, AZ

“Richmond, Virginia’s Lamb Of God have a reputation for slaying audiences with their brand of “pure American metal” but on Killadelphia practically murder. Aside from their demolishing, 75 minute live performance from Philly’s Trocadero, the DVD has plenty of no-holds-bard behind-the-scenes footage, including perpetual breakdowns, practical jokes, and a skydiving excursion”-Law of Inertia

“If the extra scrutiny affected the band, you couldn’t tell by watching them play. The Killadelphia DVD was filmed at Philadelphia’s Trocadero in October while the jury was still out. Which is to say, they ripped the shit out of each song with mind-boggling grace. Guitarists Willie Adler and Mark Morton are two of the most articulate shredders in music today.”-Decibel

“Few Music DVD’s are this engrossing. The musicians are skilled metal players, and this sets up contention with singer/screamer Randy Blythe, who, at one point, doesn’t want the band to play cd versions of the songs during live shows. “I’m at the top of my game, though” one guitarist says to him, later telling him he won’t change his performance. This argument leads to a violent fistfight three days later in Glasgow, where Blythe is sucker punched from the side. Metal fan or not, Killadelphia is a devastating look into the darker side of music.”-West Valley View, AZ

“Live aspects of the production are fantastic. On this DVD Lamb Of God comes off like a juggernaut.”-Wonkavision

“Killadelphia is a bare bones documentary of the life on the road with one of the death metal stalwart’s Lamb Of God in support of the recent release Ashes Of The Wake. With the bands performances intertwined with all the hustle, bustle, and drunken jostles, the DVD will be an enjoyment for fans who have come to love the explosive live shows around the country and abroad the Lamb Of God have done since their incarnation. It’s quite a trip to watch, the band at its zenith. There are no glamorous reality-TV bullshit schemes to this DVD. It’s a stone-cold look at a band on the road without any trimmings, which makes it intriguing to anyone who’s a fan of the bands work.”-Rag Magazine, Florida

“The long-awaited DVD is here, featuring the band in all their live glory.”

-Westwood One, National Syndicate

JUDAS PRIEST TO RELEASE LIVE DVD - Robin @ 10:42 am PST
JUDAS PRIEST TO RELEASE LIVE DVD 'RISING IN THE EAST'
ON NOVEMBER 15, 2005, VIA RHINO HOME VIDEO

BAND'S FIRST STRAIGHT-TO-DVD RELEASE FEATURES CLASSIC HITS
AND NEW 'ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION' FAVORITES

Heavy metal icons Judas Priest will release the new live DVD 'Rising In the East' on November 15, 2005, via Rhino Home Video.

Vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bass guitarist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis filmed 'Rising In The East' in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The definitive Judas Priest lineup played two sold-out nights at the venue to promote the early-2005 release of the critically acclaimed studio album 'Angel Of Retribution,' their first new material in 15 years. 'Rising In The East' is Judas Priest's first straight-to-DVD release.

"We talked about doing a DVD on this tour and we decided to do it at the Budokan because it's a special venue. It's world-renowned. We thought it was an ideal choice," says Tipton. "We filmed both nights but we ended up using the second night only for this DVD. We wanted it to be as live and as real as possible, and when you start taking from different shows there isn't continuity. We wanted it to be one show and that's exactly what it is."

"I think what 'Rising In The East' displays to Priest fans is the first time seeing us reunited for a full-length show in the DVD format," Halford says. "I think the DVD compounds all the great things that Priest fans and metal fans all around the world love about the band. Priest is still a powerful, physical, full-on experience in the live domain. What this DVD is intended to do is give longtime Priest fans another great memory to add to their collection, and it's also an opportunity for new Priest fans to explore all the great things we're achieving three decades later."

'Rising In The East' is bursting with Judas Priest classics from albums such as 'Sad Wings Of Destiny,' 'Sin After Sin,' 'Stained Class,' 'Hell Bent For Leather,' 'British Steel,' 'Point Of Entry,' 'Screaming For Vengeance,' 'Turbo,' 'Ram It Down' and 'Painkiller' as well as 'Angel Of Retribution' standouts.

The track listing includes: "The Hellion/Electric Eye," "Metal Gods," "Riding On The Wind," "The Ripper," "A Touch Of Evil," "Judas Rising," "Revolution," "Hot Rockin'," "Breaking The Law," "I'm A Rocker," "Diamonds And Rust," "Worth Fighting For," "Deal With The Devil," "Beyond The Realms Of Death," "Turbo Lover," "Hellrider," "Victim Of Changes," "Exciter," "Painkiller," "Hell Bent For Leather," "Living After Midnight" and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'."

"This set list is a great cross-section of the Priest catalog. It runs the full spectrum of musical content," Tipton says. "We used to only play two or three songs from a new album on tour, but for 'Angel Of Retribution' we've played five or six songs from it during the time we've been out, which is a lot. That shows how good the album is and how well-received it has been. It's been very rewarding to see the positive reaction to the new material."

"The DVD is a full two-hour display of highlights from Priest's career over the last three decades," Halford says. "We take you on a metal journey from 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' right up to 'Angel Of Retribution.' Between those two points in time, 'Rising In The East' includes music that is significant to us and to our fans. In that respect, this DVD is quite unique."

The audio, which was mixed by longtime Judas Priest producer Tom Allom, is presented in 5.1 Surround Sound.

"Tom's never totally been away. We've always kept in touch with him. He's a good friend and we worked with him for many, many years," Tipton says. "On the live aspect, Tom is the ideal man. He knows the band inside out. He knows what we like, and he's got a great set of ears."

"He is a significant figure in the history of Judas Priest," Halford says. "He's made the same metal journey as we have. We were waiting for an opportunity to work together with him again. There's a built-in feeling of security because Tom knows us so well musically. We knew we could hand him a project like this and let him go at it with all the right attributes and complete something that's going to make us happy and make the fans happy."

Japan has been an incredibly important part of Judas Priest's career. The band's first-ever live album, 1979's 'Unleashed In The East (Live In Japan),' was recorded in the "Land of the Rising Sun," so it's only fitting that the eagerly awaited 'Rising In The East' DVD originate from there too.

"Judas Priest was one of the first bands to invade that country with metal," Halford says. "Even though we made the DVD in Japan, it really represents the relationship that Judas Priest has with fans around the world."

Remaining dates on the second North American leg of the 'Angel Of Retribution' tour include:

DATE CITY VENUE
Friday, October 28th Kelseyville, CA Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa
Saturday, October 29th San Diego, CA San Diego Sports Arena
Sunday, October 30th Long Beach, CA Long Beach Arena

Following the North American trek, Judas Priest will tour Russia and The Baltics in November and December.

CANDLELIGHT TO RELEASE CANDLEMASS CATALOG - Robin @ 10:41 am PST

Philadelphia: Candlelight Records today confirms the US license for six back catalog titles from Swedish doom legends Candlemass. Set for release in February, the titles include four currently unavailable albums, a live record and the band's cd/dvd collection.

Epicus Doomicus Metallicus stands as one of doom metal's true milestone recordings. Originally released in 1986, the record has been completely remastered and will include a live bonus disc circa 1988 clocking in at over 51 minutes. In stores February 7, Stonerrock says "it defined a genre and still remains a well-loved and esential metal album more than sixteen frigging years after it came out."

Ancient Dreams, also remastered and featuring live bonus material, saw original release in 1988 and was the second album to feature vocalist Messiah Marcolin. Album opener "Mirror Mirror" with "Darkness in Paradise" and "The Bells of Acheron," now all fan favorites, further extended the band's genius epic signature. In stores February 7, All Music Guide calls the album "compelling."

Doomed for Live features seventeen songs recorded during the band's 2001 reunion tour (that further led to their current reunion). The hugely successful European run celebrated the band's legendary status. The record also hits stores February 7.

Nightfall, the band's brilliant second album, introduced Marcolin to the world and today continues to be one of the band's most popular records. Originally released 1987, it has been remastered and features a bonus disc including rare demo plus studio and additional live footage previously unavailable. In stores February 21, an interview with the band as well video for "Bewitched" has also been added.

The conceptual album Tales of Creation found original release in 1989. Including "The Edge of Heaven" that Doom-metal.com calls "one of Candlemass' best songs ever," the reissue features more rarere demo material as well video for "Dark Reflections." Also in stores February 21, the album with the cd/dvd Essential Doom (featuring nearly 20 Candlemass classics!) nearly complete Candlemass' respected and prolific recording career.

Formed in 1985, All Music Guide says, "Candlemass helped reintroduce the lumbering power chords of Black Sabbath to an entire generation of post-New Wave of British Heavy Metal and post-thrash metalheads, almost single-handedly writing the handbook for the modern doom metal movement in the process." The band's latest album, simply titled Candlemass, was released earlier this year via Nuclear Blast.

NEW YORK – New York metal band HavocHate has made the ballot for Grammy nominations in three categories - Best Metal Performance (#024), Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (#063), and Best Rock Album (#089) - for its latest release, “Cycle of Pain.”

HavocHate has passed through the screening process by the Grammy committee in each category and will now go up against other contenders for the Grammy nominations.

The nominations are Best Metal Performance: “Cycle of Pain,” Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal: “Fiction,” and Best Rock Album: “Cycle of Pain.”

“Cycle of Pain,” HavocHate’s second album, was released earlier this year on Indecent Media and received a limited edition red vinyl release in September.

“We are grateful for all the support during the balloting process,” said Indecent Media president Jurgen Korduletsch. “We are delighted that HavocHate are getting the recognition they so richly deserve.”

Said guitarist Freddy Ordine: “There have been a lot of great releases this year, so it’s very exciting for “Cycle of Pain’ to have been selected out of all of them.”
