When something bad happens, you tend to find out what kind of friends you
have. Ever since my Mom died, I have been swept away by the never-ending support of my friends. Shortly after my Mom's death, several benefit shows have been planned. My good friend Beth Huffman who had never put on a show before took the tremendous task of putting on a show at her house with what was originally planned for 15 bands! The final count turned out to be 9 bands but only 6 got to play thanks to the Newman Police Department and some stupid people yelling "Fuck The Police" so I'd like to thank Eyecon, Unother, & Captive8 for coming out and supporting the cause. The show started out with some troubles with sound and power but they were taken care of. The first band of the day was Morbius who had just opened for Danzig the night he got knocked out in Arizona.
Morbius played an awesome set that included one of my Mom's favorite songs the Pat Benetar cover of Heartbreaker. Morbius was an awesome band to open this tribute show and I thank them for coming out from Stockton to show their support. Next was another Stockton local my good friends Liquid Conscience! Liquid Conscience let me choose what songs to play and they were kind enough to open with my favorite song Midget Porn! After choosing my favorite LC songs, they had a surprise for me. As many of you know people tend to call me "Band Whore" and LC wrote a song about me, entitled “Band Whore” This is the coolest thing I have ever had happen to me! I respect these guys like brothers and they will always have my never-ending respect.
Next was Origins Of Consequence. This was their first show ever. You really couldn't tell this was their first show. With brutal dueling guitars, bone crushing bass, awesome vocals, and drums that boggle the mind. I expect that this band will be around for a long time and by this time next year; they should be one of the 209s best bands. Next was Merced's Stigmurder. Stigmurder came out and crushed the crowd that was full of Stigmurder T-Shirts. They played their usual awesome set, they included some Slayer at the end for me, and SLAYER is my favorite band! Stigmurder totally rocked and I thank them for coming out! Next, as the sun began to set was Thr3efold!
Thr3efold opened their set by handing out about 30 shots of Jagermeister to start their set off right! Thr3efold are good friends of mine and they just totally kicked ass! They played one of the best set's I have seen them play and I have seen them play more times than I can count. Ever since my Mom died, the Thr3efold crew has supported me so much, that I can never repay them for their kindness. Whether I needed a place to crash before my mom's funeral or If I just needed someone to hangout with Thr3efold showed their support more than anyone else did and I thank them including their manager Amy for helping with the planning of this event and all her support.
Next was another of my favorite bands The Venting Machine. TVM came out and eventually closed the show. TVM came out and played through bad lighting and severe mosquitoes to play a blistering set and at the end; they invited me on stage to help sing my favorite song potty mouth! When TVM showed up their assistant, Mike Banner gave me a pair of Ozzfest tickets Thanks Mike! It was about this time that the Police showed up and thanks to some stupid ass people, we were shut down with three bands left to play. I would like to thank everyone who came out and supported me and my Mom it was so moving to see many of my good friends come out to play for me. I will never be able to thank you all enough!!! A big thanks to Beth for having this event for me!
