Diecast Artist - Diecast
Album - Tearing Down Your Blue Skies
Label - Century Media (2004)
Reviewer - Marc Halverson
After three long years of being almost silent, Diecast return with a new line-up, new singer, and sound. According to bassist, Jeremy Wooden, “We have spent almost two years on this material, making sure that every song was as strong and interesting as the next… Our new singer (Paul Stoddard, ex-Breeding Ground) has allowed us to try things that we could never have imagined in the past…We tried to make each song have a different feel and have written some of our heaviest material and also some of our most melodic,” (www.bhcdiecast.com). With that being said, Diecast are guaranteed to tear down your blue skies.

“Fire Damage” opens with a surprising acoustic before tearing into an all out assault that loyal Diecast fans are accustomed to hearing. Next, ‘Seize The Day,’ is another fast paced track along the lines of their fellow Bostonians, Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall. ‘Torn From Within,’ is very heavy and melodic. Then, it ends in a breakdown with screams that instantly bring Phillip Anselmo (Pantera, Superjoint Ritual, Down) to mind. Moving along, the strongest track ‘Rise And Oppose,’ is a classic Diecast anthem that brings brutal riffs, tight bass, pounding double-kicks, and all out war vocals commanded by front man, Paul Stoddard. Other strong tracks are ‘Traitor,’ ‘Pendulum’ and ‘Rebirth’ and will definitely appeal to fans of their past material.

Diecast are back stronger than ever and display a different, more melodic side that did not appear on their older material. However, they still have their metal, hardcore sound that will please any old school head banger. Therefore, check out Diecast when they come through on tour and find out exactly how they are tearing down your blue skies.

Diecast is:
Jason Costa – Drums
Kirk Kolatis – Guitar
Paul Stoddard – Vocals
Jonathan Kita – Guitar
Jeremy Wooden – Bass
