Jag Panzer Artist - Jag Panzer
Album - Casting the Stones
Label - Century Media
Reviewer - Robin Steeley
Jag Panzer hasn’t released a studio album since 2001’s Mechanized Warfare, and Casting the Stones has certainly crossed the gap for the Colorado Quintet. This is their ninth career album. The powerful metal sound is still there and its even gotten a little heavier. The album features ferocious guitar by Chris Broderick and the impressive vocals of Harry Conklin himself. A veteran of the underground, he has since proven his vocal prowess in the field of metal.

The music is epic and soaring at times, with lots of guitar solos and catchy choruses. Some highlights include classic headbanger “The Mission” as well the brutal “Cold” but the true stars shine at the end of the album with “Starlight’s Fury”, and ”The Harkening”. The album is solid, the production and musicianship is excellent and most of the songs are worth a repeated listen. The works one downfall is that many of the songs sound alike. But if you can handle a little repetition in exchange for some strong power metal, or you’re a fan of their past work, pick this up.
