Texas Goth rock trio Of Infinity has released this three track EP, aptly titled “The Essence Of Infinity," the debut manages to cross genres and combine dark, melodic metal with a sharply contrasted gothic twist with songs unique enough to hold your interest. References could be made to European metal greats Lacuna Coil, or even America’s Evanescence but the band is no carbon copy.
Self produced with Jonathon Shults, it’s an impressive release and all three songs have their own highlighted moments. My favorite track is 'Shadow Of A Lie’, which used to be an instrumental track. The violin, played by Emily Hesterman is absolutely stunning. Their music is epic and at times breathtaking; I would describe it as female fronted progressive metal. The songs are full of huge intricate melodies and are all more then six minutes long, this is not your typical independent release demo.
I am really looking forward to what this band can do with a full-length project. In the meantime, I have these three songs to tide me over. Pick this up if you love dark, gloomy, metal, or even if you are in the mood for something new.
