Having caused quite a rumble in South America, Athanator is an aggressive four piece thrash metal band hailing out of Medellin, Colombia, (Top 40-charts.com). According to Lunden De’Leon, CEO of Dirrty Records, he is quite confident in Athanator stating, “With their popularity in South America, I’m sure they will be a huge success worldwide.” “Earth of Blood” is an aggressive and heavy hitting display of thrash/metal compounded with death metal vocals lead by front man, Jaime Ocampo.
The opening two tracks ‘Earth of Blood’ and ‘Children of Darkness’ are fast paced thrash tracks lead with deathly growls and screams that will tear right into the ears of their listeners. ‘Perverse Paradise’ instantly brings early Metallica to mind with a melodic but heavy hitting riff with solid drumming and a catchy chorus. Another strong track is the catchy guitar work of ‘A Death in a Hole’ which is also the longest song on the album. ‘Rage’ tears right into a solo that draws a parallel to Dimebag Darrell’s guitar mastery on Pantera’s “Vulgar Display of Power.” Other solid tracks include, ‘The Savior of God’, ‘Without Choice’, and ‘Healing by the Blood.’
Since signing with Dirrty Records in Los Angeles, California, this South American quartet can only improve and develop their sound to become a worldwide force in the thrash-metal underground.
