Released by Liquor and Poker Records, Michigan based quartet Dirty Americans are set to spread their brand of rock music across America after it’s highly successful release in Europe and Japan by Roadrunner Records. The CD is 13 tracks and was produced by Paul Ebersold (3 Doors Down, Saliva).
Opening track “No Rest” has a good Rock and Roll feeling with a modern twist. It’s catchy and makes you want to move around. It’s followed by “Car Crash” and then “Strange Generations” the title track, which has a modern KISS influence and I believe is slated for their first single off this release.
Other highlight tracks are the simple “Time In Space” which is lyrically awesome and displays the vocals well. I also liked the slower but still rockin “Give It Up” as well as the infectious “Deep End” and the wandering “We Were Young” which reminds me a little bit of The Wallflowers although I hesitate to make the comparison since it is mostly in style and not musicianship.
Overall, it has many endearing qualities including a good production, chunky guitar riffs, and great timing. Self described as “Dirty American Rock” I think they fit that description. Taking their heaviest influences from circa 1970 Rock and Roll they manage to convey that classic soul with a modern twist. I guess when you’re a band from Detroit Rock City rocking hard is expected and Dirty Americans don’t disappoint.
The trip of Strange Generations is just beginning as the band intends to tour in support of the release throughout 2005. For more information, visit
