Metal for the Masses Artist - Various Artists
Album - Metal for the Masses Vol. 3
Label - Century Media Records
Reviewer - Robin Steeley
Released by Century Media, Metal for the Masses Vol. 3 is a two CD set featuring almost three hours of Metal and more then 40 songs from metal bands across the nation. This is a great album to introduce to someone newly interested in metal, but it’s also perfect for someone who is already passionate about their hardcore music but wants to hear a bigger variety of bands.

The CD is extremely affordable and is sold only through Hot Topic stores and through Century Media mail order. Some of the more stand out tracks include Shadowsfall’s “What Drives the Weak”, and God Forbid’s “Gone Forever”, a solid catchy track that is full of their trademark sound. On the female fronted metal tracks I liked Arch Enemy’s “Dead Eyes (See No Future)” and Lacuna Coil’s “Daylight Dancer” as well as Lullacry’s “Pitch Black Emotions”, a new band for me.

Some surprising rare gems were Dream Evil’s “The Book of Heavy Metal” and Agnostic Fronts “Peace” with its sickeningly heavy breakdowns. My personal favorites were Death Angel’s “Prophecy” and Exodus “War is My Shepherd”.

Overall it’s a great mixture, it did have some singularly obscure moments but it picks up pace quickly and redeems itself in the end. I think it would make excellent road trip music and make for very little fumbling with trying to change CD’s, since this one has it all!

I would have the track listing for you, but I’m afraid if I started typing it I would still be working a year from now, it’s that long.
