Here is some pure raw energy! This is hardcore to the roots! On The Outside has a sound I think many bands wish they had. Listening to this EP is almost like seeing them live only because their sound is captured so well in the recording the energy is pushed out through my speakers. I really got into this album.
The playing is solid here and the singing is definitely appropriate and edgy. Kyle Blacktooth on vocals delivers a wonderful lead with a very serious drive. Nate Value on drums comes out of his seat with beats crossing many genres of punk and metal, thus creating this hardcore rock. Marcus Bailey on bass has a raw sound that would be expected but put with the rest of the band, the low end is killer. Steve Scala on guitar plays like there is many of him playing at once. In track 2, “Broken Never Hopeless,” Steve gives us some riffs and cha-chunkin’ that will make you want to stand up and yell! This tight ensemble of hardcore could be on their way to making a serious statement in their world of music.
They have some shows coming up on the East Coast in March, but hopefully we will get a chance to see them on the other side, especially in the NW where I believe they will earn a healthy following. I do believe that their sound could really earn a following where ever they go.
