Thine Eyes Bleed Artist - Thine Eyes Bleed
Album - In the Wake of Separation
Label - The End Records
Reviewer - Robin Steeley
If you are looking for something heavy, you should definitely check out Thine Eyes Bleed. Their music stands for itself but if that’s not enough the band features former Kittie guitarist Jeff Phillips as well as Johnny Araya, brother of Slayer’s Tom Araya. Those facts might be the determining factor to get someone new to check out their music, but that’s where the novelty ends, this band relies on nothing but their own distinct sound to get by.

The band originates from the London, Ontario area and recently signed a deal with American label The End Records. The album is slated to drop on April 26th and I have a feeling it will find its niche among the other genres and come out ahead of the game. The album was engineered by Morgan Russell, and recorded at Vyner Road Studios.

The music itself is full of heavy riffs and blistering vocals with a focus on blinding instrumentation and catchy choruses, which are evident in the opening track “Cold Victim”. Another standout song is found in the final track “Regret You Fear” which is brutal to say the very least.

Overall, it’s a fusion of extreme metal with more modern heavy influences. There is really a focus on the layered guitar sound and thick bass lines. The vocals vary enough to keep it interesting and the drums are a furious punctuation to the music. Vocally it is a searing onslaught full of guttural growls and intense screaming leaving no doubt as to the lungpower of Frontman Justin Wolfe.

The sound is violent and aggressive with just a hint at melody thrown in occasionally to throw you off track if you have become too comfortable with their sound. They incorporate their individual musical backgrounds to blend into a massive metal assault; it has all the elements of the things you love the most about classic style thrash metal. I would be willing to bet that by their release date at the end of April this band will have carved their way through the metal world to forge their own path.
