METAL TO THE MASSES FEATURING OTEP / AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE / CANDIRIA / BLOODSIMPLE / THE AUTUMN OFFERING TROCADERO THEATER IN PHILADELPHIA, PA
By Steve Trager
Autumn Offering - A band quickly make a name for themseleves with their debut effort on the still born label, yet theses guys haven' t stopped touring as of yet. No stranger to being a support act on any tour, this Daytona Beach Florida based Quintet Trash Band says something about themselves besides having a strange name. With already locking dates in with Sworn Enemy, EL Nino, and this latest tour alone with Otep. The Autumn Offering have set out to basically conquier their map of dates on their next support tours. With already seeing these guys on the still born festival in philadelphia at the electric factory, this was quite exciting to catch them at the Trocadero where they played with Four other Major Acts. Thier music alone in their live set has some great catchy melodies and their ability to rock out makes a major statement. A great bunch of guys as social can be outside of stepping onto the stage and getting everyone warmed up for a real ass kickin' show.
Bloodsimple - A new band who makes their debut on this anticipated tour with Otep. Much like any new band whos thriving for exposure with fans and basically getting their name out on the road is what these guys intend to do. Since the CD has offically hit the shelves as of yet, here in Philadelphia at the Trocadero fans got a pure taste of what an intense band sounds like despite the fact that they are new. Aside with a major factor within colliding members of Mudvayne and Vision Of Disorder, Bloodsimple demonstrates as a live act with sizzeling guitars, saucy bass lines, and hard driving vocals. Despite a short set by this band alone, Bloodsimple performed a few tracks off their major debut on the Warner Label.
Candiria - Another well known act straight out of Brooklyn New York with thier debut on MTV 2 HeadBangers Ball a short time ago with their first video clip off of their major release What Doesn't Kill You, performed a sizzeling set including Remove Yourself and Blood, which Frontman Carley Coma kept yelling .... I wanna see everyone moving on this one, I dont care if your legs are broken, I dont care if you only have one leg, lets go Philly I wanna see everyone move ! Crazy as it seems its like a given command with some bands at a typical trash show, perhaps a puppet at work if you will. Candiria will make their overseas trip to the land of the rising sun known as Japan along with Dillanger Excape Plan Hats off to Candiria for yet another sucessful tour both here and over seas in 2005.
Otep - Another powerful band that doesn't leave without saying that they can kick your ass live. As if being on the rock caravan at Ozzfest for a few runs wasn't enough to kick your ass then, how about a nice headlining slot on this major five band massive tour to complete a night of entertainment in Philadelphia at the Trocadero. Ofcourse Otep's latest release "House Of Secrets" is the best yet. Yeah typical guys yelling at Otep. I would say she's hot, but I am not crazy about inking up your body. True fact is the style of today's music seems to reflect on strange art work and body piercing.
Otep is a certain type of band you can just crank your speakers to and fly down the highways to, yet their live shows are amazing. Kind of odd sitting through four bands all of the same genre,' then there's this four piece act with a true rock female at the reins belting out tracks from her records which included "warhead ,"" house of secrets," " my confession ," and "blood pig ." Which rounded out the hour headlining set.
With so many bands performing, quick set changes, its hard to keep up with songs and various other things going on, but somehow you can just focus on each band performing and really soak up the music.
American Head Charge - one interesting band I might add to this bill of bands. They graced Ozzfest in 2001 as a seven piece outfit, now trimming themselves down to just six, still griping that most unusual hard driving Thrashie sound all their own. With only two records under their belt, one with American recordings intitled " The War Of Art " and the second one on a new label DRT Entertainment Called " The Feeding " It is bad enough trying to keep up with five guys on one stage, let alone six which includes a keyboardist who adds a nice touch to the band. Strange as it seems American Head Charge got to play for about forty-five minutes, which went way too quick at the Trocadero. American Head Charge performed as the band themselves called it tasty music indeed. Tracks included the new one called "loyalty ", "pledge allegiance ", " A Violent Reaction" , and "seamless " ( which are both from the war of art ). Defiantly a nice touch on this tour of bands.
