Dog Faced Gods Artist - Dog Faced Gods
Album - Stoned Council
Label - Voodoo Nation Records, Inc 2005
Reviewer - Erik Beyer
Here is a unique hard rock album with some influences from metal, classic rock, and rap, all blended into a record that stands in your face makes you see what they are doing. The rough and hard guitars, deep and rough vocals, great rhythms and riffs to drive this album from the first to the fifteenth track!

This album has a rough start with “Desperately,” but leads greatly into the second track, “Good Life,” and track three, “Brings Me Down.” Track 3 is a killer track with a mad energy that I believe shows much of what these guys are capable of. Track 4, “Earth Is Hell” is a great song addressing political and war based issues and their kick-your-ass way of doing it! This is also the first track on this album where the rap influences surface, but well bedded with rock all around. Track 10, “Save Me,” stuck out in my ears, with the intro riff really driving this song into what becomes another powerful hard rock fest with these guys. Track 13, “Simple Man,” an overly familiar song sneaks out on this album. Without adding too much of their own flavor, I am hoping this song was added for more reasons than to just have a cover song on the record, because considering the talent behind the Dog Faced Gods, I don’t think this song and the quality did them much justice. The album finishes up with a rap version of their track 12, “Stand Alone.” This final track is very well done and left me with a good taste in my mouth.

Dog Faced Gods, from California has definitely lived up to its seeming expectations of reaching a different and strong level of hard rock. With Raymond Galvan Whiteowl on vocals giving a very thick delivery, David “Snakeyez” Torres on lead guitar and giving us the crunch and great riffs, Fernando Gonzales on bass, and Leonard Colvin II on the drums, as a whole delivering a great sound with a serious itch towards more and more. I wanna see what else you got!
