Stab!Stab!Stab! Artist - Stab!Stab!Stab!
Album - Hell’s Coming With Me
Reviewer - Jesse Lynch
First off let me say that Stab!Stab!Stab! is one of the cooler band names I have heard in a while (next to Cattle Decapitation, of course). The blunt and violent band name fits the musical perfectly. The music is in your face from the start. Interspersed between the screeching rage of vocalist Mike Drew are interesting and sometimes surprising passages that range from melodic to downright chunky.

On “Winter, Women and Funerals” they give off almost a punk vibe, although with more violence. “My Murderous Throne” starts with an almost neo-classical intro and proceeds into some heavy thrashing. Even more surprising is “Plaguebringer”, with its funky drum machine beats and spoken vocals mixed with odd time changes and harsh screams. There’s a lot more to Hell’s Coming With Me than just hyper speed blast beats and garbled vocals, which is often the ailment of many grindcore type bands. These four take it to the next level with some melody and heavy groove.

An interesting note is that the band has no drummer and relies on a drum machine. Often this can lead to monotonous beats making equally monotonous songs. Stab!Stab!Stab! have avoided this problem with some excellent programming that sounds about as close to a real drummer as I have heard in a long time. Also the fact that this CD is entirely self released (they even talk about stapling all the CD covers together by hand on their website) shows that this band has some heart invested in what they are doing. If you have interest in some good, thrashy metal and also want to pay respect to some real DIY artists, I recommend buying this CD.

You can purchase the CD through the band’s website : www.stabstabstab.com
