It Dies Today
It Dies Today

Interview with
Nick Brooks of It Dies Today

By Marc Halverson

It Dies Today are an up and coming metal/melodic hardcore band from Buffalo, New York, who are already building quite a name for themselves in a scene where there are so many other outfits trying to do the same thing. With the average age of about 20 years old, It Dies Today have put in the hard work and have been touring non-stop to get their name on the map. Recently, they just finished the successful North American States Turn Blue To Gray Tour with metal legends Machine Head and Devil Driver. Their latest 2004 release, “The Caitiff Choir” has been received well in the Metalcore world and they continue to tour relentlessly for the remainder of 2005.

Crave: How is the metal and hardcore scene in Buffalo, New York?
Nick: It is starting to catch on. Before, we had decent turn outs to shows but bands like Every Time I Die are huge in Buffalo.

Crave: I recently saw you open for Machine Head in Portland, Oregon a couple of weeks ago. How was the tour and how did everyone get along?
Nick: Machine Head and Devil Driver received us very well and made us feel at home the entire tour. We hung out and partied together and they always included us in everything. Plus, I got to watch Machine Head live every night.

Crave: There are more and more bands that are starting at younger ages days; I read that the average age for It Dies Today is 20 years old so how have you grown as a band.
Nick: We started playing during high school and played shows on the weekends. We have become more focused and are writing better material than when we first started. Now, we play and tour full time and do not have to jobs on the side.

Crave: What do you like to do when you are not touring?
Nick: I like to hang out with friends and play video games and relax.

Crave: What other upcoming tour plans do you have for the remainder of 2005 after Ozzfest?
Nick: We are absolutely stoked about Ozzfest for the summer. When we finish Ozzfest, we have a tour in the works with Every Time I Die for the fall.

Crave: Thank you and see you on Ozzfest.
Nick: Thank you and see you there.
