Terror Terror
Interview with
Carl Schwartz of Terror

By Marc Halverson

Terror is an elite hardcore act hailing from Los Angeles, California. With influences stemming from Sick Of It All and Madball to Biohazard and members from accomplished bands such as Buried Alive, Ringworm and First Blood; this quintet have taken the hardcore scene by storm. First, they are one of the most intense and solid live bands you will see period. Second, they tour relentlessly and are completely devoted to their fans and the hardcore family. Last, with 2 solid albums already accomplished, Terror is already working on their next brutal release. Recently, I briefly spoke to bassist Carl Schwartz about the upcoming Sounds of the Underground Tour and new record they have been working on.

Crave: How excited are you about this summer’s upcoming Sounds of the Underground Tour?
Carl: We are all excited and are looking forward to playing with a lot of our friends and seeing some great bands, especially Madball.

Crave: You have been touring relentlessly since the 2004 release of “One With The Underdogs”, so have you had time to work on the next Terror album?
Carl: Actually, Nick our drummer and Doug (guitar) have written about 10 songs so far. Once, we have more time off from touring we will hit the studio and put everything together.

Crave: What should people expect on the new Terror record and how has the band grown since the release “Lowest of the Low” to the new material you are working on.
Carl: It is the first Terror record that we have worked on as a band. Our old guitarist, Todd Jones wrote all of the riffs and music on the first 2 albums, but we are all working together on the new one.

Crave: Which bands have had the most impact on you and Terror as a band?
Carl: Personally, for hardcore I like Sick Of It All, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front and Madball. For metal, I listen to a lot of Pantera, Biohazard and Sepultura. As far as Terror goes, Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags and Madball.

Crave: What do you like to do when you are not touring or writing music?
Carl: I am actively involved with PETA and other projects that are involved with music. I like to stay active and busy in general.

Crave: Thank you and I am looking forward to seeing Terror at Sounds of the Underground in July.
Carl: Cool, see you there.
