FUELTV PRESENTS TONY HAWK’S BOOM BOOM HUCK JAM IN PORTLAND
“This is going to be our best year by far. We have built a whole new ramp system designed for bigger air and better stunts. I can’t wait.”
– Tony Hawk
FUEL TV, America’s first 24 hour action sports network presents the best in Extreme Sports when it brings Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huck Jam to the Portland Rose Garden on June 19th. Launched in 2002, the now legendary arena tour features the latest stars in Extreme action sports. Last year the show brought in over 300,000 people in 30 cities. The tour begins June 17th in Spokane, Washington and will run clear to New York by the end of July.
This years line up has an all star cast including skate veterans Tony Hawk, Andy Macdonald, Lincoln Ueda, and Sergie Ventura as well as BMX big shots Matt Hoffman, Dennis McCoy, Chad Kagy, and Kevin Robinson as well as the masters of Moto X Freestyle Drake McElroy, Ronnie Faisst, Brian Deegan, and Dustin Miller. If you have been anywhere near the world of Skating, BMX, or MotoCross these are all names that have been often and fondly repeated, usually with awe. The musical soundtrack for the show will be provided by DJ Aero and the entire event will be announced by Rick Thorne.
The Boom Boom Huck Jam tour was dreamed up by the Godfather of Skateboarding, Tony Hawk himself three years ago as a way to bring kids, sports, and music together in a positive way. It was the first tour of its kind to cater to the generation of Extreme Culture. The stunts are phenomenal and in the past years I spent most of my time during the show on the edge of my seat, along with everyone around me anticipating the next wild ride.
This years show features a multi million-dollar intricate ramp system as well as a 30-foot roll-in that will launch the riders 42 feet through the air over the vertical ramp, only to fling them off the top of a 20-foot tall quarter pipe. Effectively, the massive half pipe encircled by the motocross track Loop of Death will allow riders to literally launch themselves over the skate ramp. I can imagine that serious air records will be broken at this show.
Later in the year we can all look forward to a Tony Hawk co-produced behind the scenes series that is tentatively titled “On the Road with Tony Hawk” which will debut on Fuel TV later in 2005. Fuel has also licensed Tony Hawk’s “Trick Tips”, an instructional feature series produced by 900 Films, Inc.
This is an event that you don’t want to miss Sunday, June 19th, at the Portland Rose Garden. For more information go to www.BoomBoomHuckJam.com.
