Pat and Bryan of TRIBE 2 STUDIOS
Story & Photos By Noah Henderson
Have you ever came to work and been like, what the fuck am I doing here? Have you ever felt like your spending your life making another mans dream come true? Yeah, me too. Let me tell you a story about two guys I know that said down with the system, eat shit to the man and fuck you corporate America. They go by the name Pat and Bryan of TRIBE 2 STUDIOS. Pat spend a good portion of his time as a restaurant manager and chef. While on the side dubbing as a creative band member and designer. He has played in bands such as Blyss and went solo with a gig he called evolution 101. Pat has also helped many singer/song writings and bands put together great demo work. Bryan has worked in the art field and is working on self publishing a graphic novel. He also has worked as a designer and brings to live some amazing creation with his detailed comic book style. You might have seen his mural work on the outer walls of a little Italian joint in Vancouver. Being that he worked for them at the time he was only charging them $600 for all five pieces of work. But when it came time to collect his money the owner wasn’t paying that price. They said it was too much (frick’n people), right then Bryan knew he needed out. Funny enough Pat was working for the same people at the same time Bryan was. Shit he was his boss. Pat knew how much Bryan hated working for them because Pat felt the same way. So he took one look at Bryan and said, “Are you ready... punk”. No just kidding. 4 real though Pat took some time and pondered the idea of working full time as a graphics designer. Soon enough Pat came to Bryan with the idea of teaming up as one and never looking back. Bryan said “okay, but I had big dreams of becoming Duce Bigalo”. Just kidding, let’s do it. And so the story go’s. I had the chance to sit down with the guys of Tribe 2 Studios and this is what they said.
Crave: How did you come up with the name Tribe 2 Studios? B: It took a while. It took a few months. It started as H2, but then hummer got that all locked up. P: We really wanted to do something that got the point across that it was just the two of us going in a real different direction. We really try to mix the organic with the cutting edge technical stuff. And with that it was the coming of a tribe.
Crave: What separates your graphic design company from others? P: I think a lot of people in this area is so concerned with doing it the way every body else is doing it. Doing it so it looks cookie cutter. Bryan and I are really about stepping out of that box. If you want something different and extraordinary in the sense of you won’t see it any where else then come talk to us.
Crave: If theirs only two of you how do you split the duties, or do you? B: We pretty much share the work load, like we don’t have any defined duties. We know what needs to be done and we just do it.
Crave: do you have any big projects that we can expect to see from Tribe 2 Studios? P: Right now we are working with the Vancouver’s farmers market. We’ve done their website and are doing all their print media.
Crave: Do you have any certain area’s you want to go toward with graphic design? P: I think we are both very progressive and creative people, so that’s the kind of people we click with. We do any thing from commissioned Oil Paintings to um Photography to Website’s. As long as it’s creative and fun, bring us in.
Crave: Any last words? P: Tribe2Studios.com puto.
In this day and age of computers, ipods and digital cameras every one thinks they are a Designer, Photographer, Musician or just a super hero. My favorite is “my uncle does that ” or “ I know some one who does that for dirt cheap”. As great as it may sound the proof is in the pudding. Don’t be take’n for a ride when it’s you name on the line. Remember, as much as it sucks people do judge your professionalism by the cover of your book. So don’t be that guy/ girl/ what ever, just don’t be them. To get in touch with the guys about any project you may need done go to www.tribe2studios.com or give them a call at 360-609-5759 Well kids that’s it for now. Until next time, have one for me and looovve your mother.
