From New Jersey, Bedlight For Blueeyes is a newly signed Trustkill Records band, and with such a formidable label behind them, there’s not much this band can’t do. After listening to the CD, I can understand why they were listed by Alternative Press Magazine as one of the top ten bands, and that was before they had a record or a record deal! The album was produced by John Naclerio (My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail) which I’m sure helped propel their sound to a new level of success.
The album starts with “Ephemeral Addictions” which has some catchy guitar work and you can tell right away that vocalist Christian can really sing. With a dynamic range, I am pleased to hear that while it may share the “Screamo” genre, this is not your ordinary band. I love the emphasis on cleaner vocals and melody with a minimum of the constant screaming you hear on many new albums today, it’s in there, but interspersed so that it all blends together harmoniously.
Other highlights off this offering are the slower burning and bass heavy “Midnight Symphony” and the straightforward rock of “Soundscapes & Lullabies”. The ending track “Ligeia” is probably my favorite, it has a beautiful rich sound to it and is lyrically perfect.
This is an album worth picking up regardless of your interest genres, it transcends the normal barriers and I look forward to hearing more music from this band in the future.
