Fear Factory Artist - Fear Factory
Album - Transgression
Label - Calvin Records
Reviewer - Robin Steeley
I have always been a huge fan of Fear Factory, so I anxiously awaited the arrival of this CD, having read reports that this is entirely different direction then they have gone before. After listening, I would have to agree with that statement. The album is being put out by Calvin Records, an imprint of Liquid 8 that was specifically created to showcase Fear Factory and other metal bands.

The album was produced by Toby Wright (Alice In Chains, Korn, Metallica) and I’m sure he has helped propel them in the new direction they are experimenting with. Another surprising and powerful addition to the recording is the guest appearance of Faith No More bassist Billy Gould who contributed on the tracks “Echo Of My Scream” and “Supernova”.

It might be different, but its still incredible, Fear Factory is back, blowing away Archetype by the first song. “540,000 Degrees Fahrenheit” which will blow you away from the missile firing to the very last note of final track “Moment of Impact”.

Overall the sound is heavy and experimental, a new direction for Fear Factory. It’s a worthy addition to your FF collection. Look for the band on tour in the US with Megadeth in the acclaimed end of summer Gigantour, which also features Dream Theater, Dillinger Escape Plan, Life of Agony and Dry Kill Logic.
