Fight Paris Artist - Fight Paris
Album - Paradise, Found
Label - Trustkill
Reviewer - Dan Hoyt
I had the privilege of seeing Fight Paris on the STRHESS five days before this CD came out, and for a short opening act they sure hit hard and never let up until the end. Their debut album, Paradise, Found encompasses exactly that; a 33-minute rock n’ roll assault on the eardrums. It’s not exactly a masterpiece, but it’ll probably make you want to party and brings a unique punk and core twist to the straight-up hard rock scene.

It’s nonstop sex and drugs for these guys, and vocalist Kevin Phillips makes sure you know that on pretty much every song. The first song on the album, “Fuck Me Stilettos” is a cacophonous blast of guitars and spastic vocals going on and on about women and causing trouble in general. Following is “100 Proof Woman”, which features a damn good guitar riff and is probably my favorite song on the album. And just in case you weren’t sure what this band was all about, they throw in some porno sound effects at the end of it.

“Complete Heat”, the third song, is also very good and keeps the fast pace of the album going. My only complaint is that after this song, the rest just start to sound the same. “Deville” is a decent song as well but everything else is just what you’ve already heard at the beginning of the album. I do dig the guitar riffing quite a bit, but the bass is hard to hear at times over them and Phillips’ wailing, and the drums seem a little bit lacking for the sheer noise force of this band.

Paradise, Found does make a killer party album, however, and if you’ve got a bunch of buddies together, the booze is flowing freely and you’re sick of Andrew W.K., put these guys on and it’ll keep you entertained.
