HORSE the band Artist - HORSE the band
Album - The Mechanical Hand
Label - Combat Records, Koch Records
Reviewer - Jake Wilson
Horse…this is a very interesting band. I found myself not liking them at all. But feeling compelled to write this review as fairly and honestly as possible, I put the CD back in my player and started over. Surprisingly, by the time I got to track 8…I was actually starting to enjoy them. An odd variation of semi-progressive, not quite punk but not very conventional rock either…The Mechanical Hand is an experience to say the least. The talent of the musicians ability is clearly heard throughout the album and the songs are put together in a clever yet almost dysfunctional manner. Standing out the most are the very unique keyboard sounds. It kind of reminded me of 80’s video game music. Ironically, I found another review referring to them as sounding like "Nintendo Rock"…indeed.

Track List:
Birdo
A Million Exploding Suns
Manateen
The House Of Boo
Heroes Die
Softer Sounds
Octopus On Fire
Soaring Quails
Taken By Vultures
A Rusty Glove
Sand
Lord Gold Throneroom
The Black Hole
