Killing Spree Artist - Killing Spree
Album - Deception Betrayal Revenge
Label - What’s my cut? Productions
Reviewer - Jesse Lynch
There’s something about a power trio that’s always been kind of cool. From Forced Entry to Prong (before they went crazy and added keyboards), there has always been a bit of rawness to the sound that you just don’t get with other band setups. Killing Spree’s debut full length, Deception Betrayal Revenge, is no exception.

To me, this is a good, old school thrash record. Vocalist and bassist Eric Hansen sings in a slightly high but aggressive voice drenched in reverb, reminding me of Bonded By Blood era Exodus. There are some classic sounding thrash riffs, with lots of double picking and palm muting. The bass locks in tight with drummer Mike Taylor’s pounding rhythms. Hell, they even have the shouted group vocals and squealing pick harmonics. And guitar leads. In every song! Performed quite well by guitarist James Murray.

This is a thrash record. Pure and simple. And it’s good. It should help settle the appetite of any thrash purest. If any of us had hair left we could head bang along with it like the old days.
