I recently had the chance to catch up with the guys of Circa Survive for a interview. Sitting out side on a couple of fold up chairs we had a chance to talk.
I started with Anthony green(singer).
Crave: I'm sitting here with Anthony Green of Circa Survive, Anthony how's it going?
Anthony: Pretty good, how about yourself?
Crave: Great. What is something you would like people to know about you and your band?
Anthony: I guess the best thing i could say is that it's all really heart felt and it's a passion.
Crave: What was your first reaction to selling 25,000 records in two months?
Anthony: Um well you know..I don't really know. I don't really feel anything about it. Like i don't think that's that many records, but at the same time i think it's absolutely incredible. At one point i want to be like that's really fuck'n awesome, but on the other hand it's not that big of deal.
Crave: How did you guys pick the art work on the cover?
Anthony: We gave the album to this artist, Easo Anddrews and he listen to it to come up with paintings for the whole thing. We were in the position where if we didn't like it we weren't going to use it. But the first time we seen it we were like, shit.. that's fuck'n awesome.
Crave: I hope this isn't to lame, but who do you admire?
Anthony: I admire anyone that's super passionate and self involved in their music.
Crave: Whats next for Circa Survive after this tour?
Anthony: We are going to record a video when we get back home to Philadelphia. It's going to be for "Act Appalled" and it's going to be a awesome video. I never really liked music videos that much. There are a few that stand out in my head that i thought where awesome. I've been writing this treatment for this video for the last two weeks and I'm really excited about it. Everyone in the band is coming together for this idea and we are all really stoked about it. Then we are going to Europe in September. Then we have two or three weeks to chill out, witch we haven't done seance we been on tour.
Crave: whats a perfect day off for you guys?
Anthony: When i get back home to Philadelphia i take at least three or four days to go to the jersey shore and chill out. I want to take about four days to write and paint.
Then Steve Clifford (drummer) joined in.
Crave: Where do you see the band headed in the next year?
Steve: Touring alot and putting out records. Putting out lots of little limited things. Doing lots of cool shit like that.
Crave: Do you have a follow up album in the works yet, or have you even thought about it?
Steve: I pretty much think we think about it constantly. In the works I'd say that everybody has their little jams that they do. Some of that will probably end up, you know.
Crave: Can we plan on hearing a song on the radio soon, or does that even interest you?
Steve: I don't even know... I don't care, I don't care about stuff like that.
Crave: After the tour and the success, girls are going to want to know.. Are you single or are you family men?
Steve: We are young and we are not going to lock ourselves up any time soon. Collin and Brendon might. Hahaha
Crave: any last words?
Anthony: If i get mis quoted I'll freak out, hahaha
After the interview i stuck around for the show and i ave to say that it was better live and more full of energy then i could even imagine.
